A few weeks ago we wrapped up our kitchen concept. We have a unique space for this concept so we decided to go with a French restaurant/cafe vibe in one of our rooms. We named it, Le Cafe De Flore:

Hanging pendant lamps were painted to function as chalkboards and they have “menu” items on them!

Our cabinets featured our dinner and tableware in cubbies…

…and we also painted wine bottles to work as chalkboards!

Chalk wine bottle as a sign for the dinnerware in the table setting…

This is the glassware cabinet. All the glass in front of the mirrored back looks so great!

Our restaurant signs are copied straight from a real restaurant in Paris. My with the help of Alexis from Irvine, I hand painted all the signs–it took forever!

Our cafe would not be complete without an adorable awning. This one is painted with Oops paint!! I love oops paint…

Our awning nook featured some adorable pink glasses on trays and some tarts (see the first picture)

I am busy frantic trying to finish up our fun new windows at the store but I will show you the other half of our kitchen area this week. Expect some new window pictures next week!

ruthi- blythe sent me to your site b/c I told her about painting my range hood with chalkboard paint ( i did the fridge a few years back)…we have a stash of old wine bottles and I love what you did with them but am wondering if you had to lightly sand them first for the paint to adhere? I work very part time at the anthro here in madison, wi and it’s so nice to see what other stores are doing- your store looks amazing!

I really love the chalkboard lamps and wine bottles. I’m going to make the wine bottles myself soon. Thanks for the idea. I just started blogging myself and I used your ideas in my post about different ways to use chalkboard paint: http://inzpirational-life.blogspot.com/
Again, wonderful idea!
