If you couldn’t tell, I had an absolutely wonderful vacation. And if the barrage of images isn’t enough (oh, there’s more on my Instagram too…), my sheer enthusiasm and arguing skills might convince just about anyone to pack their bags and head towards Tahoe. It’s worth it, I promise.
Now back to more fun stuff…see previous fun stuff in the last post
My grandparents joined us from Sacramento and we went on a leisurely walk through Tallac, Pope Estate, and Valhalla stopping along the way to picnic, walk the estates, and soak up some historical goodness. The buildings were built in the 1920s and are just gorgeous…they even host a yearly Gatsby Festival on the grounds. We were a week early but it sounded so fun.
Our walk ended us at Camp Richardson where we got some beach time in and then rented some mountain bikes and hit the trails. Whipping through pines trees, along eucalyptus groves, over streams, and then back again.
Our last full day, started out with a hike to Cathedral Lake–a decent distance with incredible views of Fallen Leaf Lake and Lake Tahoe along the way.
The Sportwagen was happy to be out in nature too…
Post-hike called for a lakeside picnic on Fallen Leaf. We fended off the geese and relaxed in the shade while listening to the water stirring with swimmers, boaters, and divers.
We ended our day by having dinner with some friends, watching the sun set and then heading out to the casinos for a little fun and entertainment. Once that got old, we drove away from the casino lights and found a spot to throw out blankets and stare at the stars. I know my photo is blurry (didn’t have my tripod!) but if you can’t tell, that cloudy streak across the left side is the milky way…so crazy and clear and beautiful.
