The shelves in the “work” area of my home needed a little…well, work. They sit in a darker corner and just seemed really blah. So a few months back I decided to breathe some life in to them.
After staining my basic pine shelves a darker brown, I sprayed all the front facing edges with gold paint. I wanted to get a fade effect so I didn’t mask off the edges and I just let the overspray of the gold paint get onto the rest of the shelf. I even added a little more to get a deeper fade.
Although the fade is subtle, the gold edges really help brighten up the area and bring a nice touch to the shelves that wasn’t there before. Maybe next time I’ll do neon!
